Description

Nachda Punjab 2001 is a Bhangra and Gidtha competition open to all universities, junior colleges and high schools. Participation will be limited to the first 15 schools to register.

PRIZE MONEY

 This event will have two competitive categories;  Bhangra and Giddha.   Grand Prizes will be awarded to all First Place and Second Place Teams in both categories. Cash prizes, certificates, and medals will be awarded to all of the winning teams.

REGISTRATION

A registration fee of $100 per team will be charged to assure that the team will live up to their commitment. The attached registration form, along with the deposit, must be submitted no later than February 17,2001.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

TEAM MEMBERSHIP:

  • At least 3/4 of the team members must be students or graduates of the institutions they wish to represent. (School ID’s will be checked)
  • Teams may be Male, Female or Co-ed.
  • Multiple teams may register from any given institution, but separate forms and fees must be submitted. No more than 3 teams per institution.
  • Teams are not limited to a minimum or maximum number of members.

MUSIC:

  • Music must be Punjabi.
  • Music must be on cassette tape (submit your selected song(s)).
  • Live music is permitted in form of Dhol, Tumbi, and any other traditional instrument with live singing.
  • Length of the performance should not exceed 10 minutes.

JUDGING:

  • Teams will be judged on a scale from 1 to 10(1 being the lowest to10 being the highest)   in the following categories: Attire, Originality, Tradition, Choreography, Synchronization, and Overall performance. In the event of a tie, prize money will be shared.

DRESS CODE:

  • Dress should be traditional Bhangra or Giddha attire (no pants, caps, T-shirts, etc.)
