Psi Chi: The International Honor Society of Psychology

San José State University

How to Join

Applications are available at cubicle #22 in the former Student Involvement room in Clark Hall. This is the cubicle of our faculty adviser Dr. Carr so be sure to say hi when you come to pick up an application! You'll want to drop off the form, transcripts from all your colleges, and cash or a check to either an officer, our mailbox, or cubicle #22 in the temporary Psychology department at Clark Hall. You should hear back from our membership coordinator later that semester.

We admit new students at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters. We do charge $75 to join - but this is a one-time fee. Your membership in Psi Chi is a lifetime membership. To join Psi Chi, you need to have the following (for undergraduates):

  • be a Psychology major or Behavioral Studies major or Psychology minor
  • have attended college for at least 3 semesters
  • 9 semester units in Psychology
  • 3.0 general GPA
  • 3.2 Psychology and statistics GPA

Do you qualify? If not, please do contact us anyway. We want to help you get your GPA up so that you can join! We may be creating study groups, internships, and/or mentorships in the future that you might find helpful.

Nominations and elections are held in the Spring semester of each academic year. All Psi Chi members are eligible to become officers.

Our first meeting of the 2016-2017 academic year will be our Meet & Greet on September 16, 2016 from 2-4pm in the Student Union room 1B.
